She married Wilfred Gagne (1898-1966) in 1918. Lidia is my g-g-grandmother and I'm running in to several problems because of conflicting stories and evidence. The family tale goes that Lidia lived on a Native American reservation in Maine, one that she refused to leave. My grandmother herself claims to have visited the reservation but does not know where exactly it is. I have no proof of this and all information that I do have directly conflicts this claim. I was also told more recently by my Aunt and Grandmother that Lidia was not, in fact, her real name. Originally named Augustina, she was given the name of her (possibly) twin sister after the girl had died during the family's border-crossing from Canada to the New Hampshire/Maine area. Again, I have no evidence to support this. I'm primarily looking to prove or debunk these two myths so that I can continue with my research. I'm currently at a stale-mate and any tips would be greatly appreciated! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
