In my family I have a Joseph Henry Chouinard born in 1859 in NY and his parents were born in French Canada but he lived most of his life in NJ. There don't seem to be any other Chouinard families in NJ at around that time and your post is the first one I've come across mentioning Chouinards coming from Canada to NY and then on to somewhere else.
