You are only half as much as your mother and half as much as your father. Half of 1/2 = 1/4 or 2/8. Half of 1/4 = 1/8. 2/8 + 1/8 = 3/8 If your mother were 1/2 Indian and your Father were 1/4 Indian you would only get half same as if your mother was English and your father half English and 1/2 French. You would only be 1/2 English from your mother and 1/4 from your father as well as also 1/4 French from your father. That accounts for the entire 4/4s.
