My grandfather always said he was born in Hannibal, MO. I got a copy of his original application for his social security card - it showed Illinois! I found a website online for Illinois where you could view so much. I found where my grreat grandfather and grandmother where they registered for a marriage license. Website also had info where you could order a copy of it, so I did. It showed his father's name and his mother's maiden name and that my great grandfather was from England. Carol
