In the Weir case people sent in $4 from all over the country, but the majority were from southern states--MS, AL, LA In the files I looked at in Washington, there were only one or two letters from disgruntled/angry people who had sent in money and got nothing in return-not even a letter acknowledging contribution. There is no list of names of people who sent in money in this file. In this case, rumors have it that all Weir's personal records were stored in the basement of his daughter's house and she will not talk about it. There are other cases (for example Choctaw Nation v. U. S. began in 1830s and was finally settled in 1881. MANY names are in it), but this Weir case was done in the 1940-50s.
