On Thursday, July 25, Louis Owens, a well-known Choctaw/Cherokee author, died. He was 53. I just received the news this evening. He was not only a good writer but a really good person. He carried a lot of the stories and language and customs. He was an invaluable resource in this way. He also helped many students and mentored young writers.
