This is because the Choctaws considered anyone white that was not Choctaw. I hope this may help in your search. You really should try to get ahold of a card to check this out. My gggrandfather, William R. Matoy who was married to Mary A. Folsom and then my gggrandm. Cora Belle Hesler, is one such person. He was full blooded Cherokee and was denied enrollment w/ the Cherokees because his farm suposedly was just over the boarder of Indian Territory in Kansas. But some say it was indeed in I.T.
