    1. [CHOCTAW-SOUTHEAST] question about land papers
    2. I have my grandmother's (Josie DeLoach) original papers assigning her land in Oklahoma. My questions are this....One paper is No. 15570, dated Feb. 23, 1906, 9:00am., recorded in book 22, page 478. The second paper is No. 14057, dated March 17, 1906, 10:00am, recorded in book 21, page 393. Each paper is stamped "indexed" and "compared" on the front of the folded paper. Each paper has the land description inside, and the first paper granted her 140 acres. The second paper has a different land description and granted her 110 acres. How many acres were to be given to each individual? Why the two papers? She was born in 1893 and therefore only about 13yrs. old when the land was allotted. My great grandmother (Hannah Trahern, DeLoach, Cartwright) was given 189 acres. Carol (Hedges) Hoyt ([email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) )

    3. Do you know if this information was recorded in a county allotment patent book? http://www.rootsweb.com/~okpushma/ You might look at this OkGenWeb site. The site I referred you to is for Pushamataha County... It is only an example. Scroll down on this site to the " Allotment Patent Book ". I am currently recording the information from my county courthouse for the site that I am assisatnt county coordiantor. There are several very knowledgeable persons on the list, in particular the list administrator. I'm sure if this doesn't help, you'll get assisatnce soon. Best Wishes.
