    1. Bounty Land Warrants
    2. I have a publication from the National Archives regarding land entry files. It states in this publication that bounty land was used to repay those serving in the American Revoution, War of 1812 and Mexican War. What really caught my attention was Indian Removal. Has anyone on this list heard of Bounty land that was given in the case of Indian Removal, and if so, what parts of the country did they move this population? Cyndi

    3. Halito Cyndi: Whenever the British and then the Euro-Americans fought a war, they rewarded the soldiers with bounty land in Indian territory. this would mean the negotiation of new treaties and the Indian was ever being removed westward. It might also be stated that Indians often participated in these wars and their reward was to lose their land, as in the case of the Choctaw and the Cherokee in the battle of the "Red Sticks" and the "War of 1812. If you look at the dates of the wars and the dates of the treaties, you will see that they often very closely co-inside.
