    2. There has always been speculation that, originally, our people came from Mexico. If you will look at Aztec and Choctaw art, there are images that are very similar. As an artist, I personally think there could be some truth behind this legend. One of our creation legends says the first people came "from the west". Coming from Mexico, crossing the Miss. 2. For rhe Message Board: I am searching for any information on record of William M. Stanton Choctaw Roll # 12456. I am looking for his parents, State they were from, and any information I can find. After the war he married Sarah Anne Elizabeth Kirk in the Black Oak District in and around Sulphur Springs Arkansas/ Texas It was IT then. Thank you I hope you can help me fill in the blanks. I know that he and 5 members of his family were relocated to Indian Territory at Govt. expense, arriving 12-12-1832, that he's listed in the Armstrong Roll, he was a delegate to the convention that formed the Choctaw Constitution (in 1834?) and that he was active in the affairs of the tribe. Doaksville grew up around his store. Can you tell me anything else about him? His son and grandson's Dawes applications were rejected.

Mississippi became a state in 1817, and the AL Territory was created at that time. AL then became a state in 1819, so you can see how a person born about 1820, somewhere in that area, could be said to have been born in any or all those names it was called during that time period. For map: http://members.aol.com/JORDANJM2/1818AL.html The link to that map page is found on the site, below, along with other interesting sites you may find useful for Native American research: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgwnar/ Sincerely, Fran bolton
