James, I found them under the site below. It is now just in a different form. Keep going down the page until you see them. James, try this for the 1885 census: _http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~choc1885/_ (http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~choc1885/) Fran Bolton
Sometime ago, on the following site http://www.accessgenealogy.com/native/census/index.htm There was available the 1885 Choctaw census for all counties in the Choctaw Nation, orifinally submitted by Rusty Lang. These pages are no longer available. Does anyone know how to access the aforementioned census? James
As Gilda Radner used to say on Saturday Night Live, "It's always something!" Gets kinda frustrating: sometimes I can open attachments, sometimes not. Ditto websites. James, I went to Google and typed San Bois county 1885 Census. The 6th "entry" titled census.htm (freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com) had San Bois County. I took just a glance at it, but there are the names of the residents of that county and I assume that's what you are looking for. Here is a new link I found http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~choc1885/ Try that and see what you get and what your looking for. It worked for me. You cannot click onto the different things that you once could. I have e-mailed Rusty about that. I would like to put the Pioneer Papers on my website..I have worked on it for over 10 years and gathered a lot of things. If you would like to check it out you can find it at... www.ancestralfires.com fawn ----- Original Message ----- From: Marlene To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, November 26, 2006 1:30 PM Subject: Re: [CHOCTAW-SOUTHEAST] Rusty Lang THAT is the site for which I was looking. Thank you very much Judy, Gwen & Pat and all that have tried to help me. It was sad to see that clicking onto several things did not work, but since you were kind enough to send Rusty's e-mail address, I will try that and see if she has just more or less abandoned the site or what. I also appreciate all the other sites suggested. I know how much work was involved in putting all that on the Internet. I have been fortunate in the fact that I could send many of the Pioneer Papers, etc. that I gathered in research to someone that seems to enjoy putting them on the Internet. That is not one of my favorite things to do. I can only imagine how many hours, days, weeks, etc. that Fay spent typing the marvelous information that she and Markie had on their site. It is really a shame that is all gone. Again, thanks to all. The site that Carri mentions is the closest thing suggested to the site for which I am searching. It also had stories about different families. I am not sure if it was the 1855 or 1885 census by districts. I have both complete censuses so am not looking for that. It seems she had them by families within the district plus a lot of other information. On rethinking it, I bet I am wrong on the name and it was Rusty instead of Dusty. Someone told me Dusty so I just asked for that name, but after thinking more about it, I really believe it was Rusty as for ages I did not know the person was a female. I also remember the great site Markie and Fay had and I have spent many hours searching for it. I guess I can give up on that now. I do thank everyone for the suggestions, but none of them are what I was looking for. It was such a great web page I was really in hopes that I could find it again. I have my Indian lines on back (always looking for more), but a friend was wondering where she might find more information on "The Early Settlers" - like one can send for Final Roll Card packet. Does such a thing exist for The Early Settlers. Now that I have bothered everyone looking for "Dusty" does anyone remember "Rusty"?
