    3. As I recall, it was the more traditional, full-bloods who wanted to stay in Mississippi; hence, the reason why the Mississippi Choctaw still have most of their language and customs. 1. Re: [CHOCTAW-SE] Rogers
    2. Gentledoe317, I don't have a Rogers in my family line, but if it helps you - so many people are in your situation. I was always told my grandfather(Marcus Hedges) was from Hannibal, Missouri. After I got a copy of his application for his social security card, it said Illinois. So researching Illinois census I found more information. I did discover Hannibal, Missouri is only a few hundred miles from Illinois......maybe he was born in Missouri and raised in Illinois or vice-versa. Carol

    1. Re: [CHOCTAW-SE] Rogers
    2. i dont really have any info for you...but your posting just really caught my attention. my grandmother was cumi iowa rogers. no one ever knew who her father was, it was a very well kept secret. but what caught my attention was that other people doing the family search on the rogers family, swear that cumi's birth certificate says cumi iowa cornelia or cornelius rogers. when i asked my grandmother about it she said that was a lie. she just died recently, so i guess it is time for me to get a copy of her birth certificate. i took her word for it and i never bothered to get it. now you have me curious....cumi was 95 years old when she passed away. thank you for the push on my curious buttons.....darlene
