Searching for my Grandfather, Matt Edwards born Nov. 9, 1869 and died July 4, 1930 in Strong City Ok. He married Mary Etta Haley in Tamaha OK on October 25, 1891. She was born in Vernon, MT Feb. 26, 1875. Matt Edwards had a brother named Jack (nickname?) that he was very close to. My grandfather's family would not accept Mary Etta because she was white, and my g-grandmother could not speak English (only her Native language), so Matt got mad at them and left and never went back. His brother Jack used to visit them all of the time in Tamaha so he must have lived close by. They had 10 children born in and around the Indian Territory, several are buried on the reservations in OK. Names as follows: Oldest to youngest: Nora Edwards (Hager deceased) Cora Edwards (died as a young child) Ollie Edwards (Ingram deceased) Floyd James Edwards (my father deceased) Bessie Lee Edwards (in her 90's now) Peavler? Lucy Edwards (died as a baby) Elmer Edwards (died at 4 years) Rhebecca (?) Edwards (died a baby) Vivian Edwards (Riley-Curtis deceased) Cecil Archie Edwards (deceased) No one is sure of Grandfathers exact name James Mattson, James Madison, or Matthew. I have a Bond for Marriage License in the amount of $100.00 paid to marry Mary Etta Haley of Irish decent, and listed on the Choctaw Marriages of Ok. Can anyone give me any help. Thank you, Cathy Edwards Ray
