Halito, I have Byrds and Woodwards in my line. As you probably know the name has been spelled Bird and Byrd. The people, although spelling it differently, could be in the same family. I haven't done much with the Woodwards. However, I did discover that Woodward is a traders' name. The traders often intermarried into the tribes. I suspect that I'll discover that these Woodwards are descendants of the intermarriage of a trader with a female Choctaw. I have 2 Byrds in my family who attempted enrollment in the Choctaw Tribe: Junie J. Byrd MCR# 6580, application# 670, 674; Millie Ann Byrd MCR# 6874, application# 866, 872, 873. With a correspondence with 2 names, I believe there is some probability that there is a connection. I'll get back with you once I have done more research on these names. I'd like to know some of your other surnames. If there is some more correspondence of names then it increases the probability of a connection.
