    3. Halito Sandra: BB is by blood, IW is intermarried white. Don't be discouraged, because this information is often inaccurate, although it is used to determine who is a tribal member or not. Some of the interviewers put down whatever information they wanted and many of them were affected by biases. Also, the Indians were somewhat affected by the terms of the Dawes' Commission. The more white blood that you had the more control you had over your assets and money, so they were encouraged to under-report their Indian blood quantum. All of this information should be considered along with other information you have, including family history. Remember, all of this is in trust of the US government. Some of the cousins received roll numbers but I've always been told all of Ann's children were denied. I guess they said that because he was only counted because of his wife, Phoebe . I think he did get a number: Page Roll Surname First Blood 109 187 Cummings Allen M Choctaw by Marriage D - Doubtful or denied I think he was first denied and likely later proved he was married to Phoebe Anderson who was a full blood. He was enrolled as IW (Inter-married white) HTH Tammy -----Original Message----- From: choctaw-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:choctaw-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of sgbarr40@aol.com Sent: Monday, October 09, 2006 11:16 AM To: choctaw@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [CHOCTAW] cards I hope you can see my cut and paste. I know both of these listings are my family even though Allen's age is not the same. Does BB mean by blood under type? I can see that they never received roll numbers and I've always known that fact and why, but I'd like to understand why they have 2 cards.
