Nathaniel's father was Israel Folsom, a native of Massachusetts or Connecticut. McKee had attended the ABCFM School in Cornwall, Conn. in 1819. In 1831 he was living on the east side of Nonsubbe Creek in Moshulatubbe's District at which time he had 6 persons in his household. He was allowed 160 acres by the 1830 treaty, which he sold in 1831. The 1855 census of Skullyville County shows that his household included: Fanny, Elias, Elizabeth, and Sarah.
