The Catawba were a tribe in both Carolinas, originally. I have been trying to get information about a few Catawba families that lived in/near Skullyfille, LeFlore County, about 1850ish after an 1840s treaty with the state of South Carolina (never ratified by the federal government) sold nearly all the lands of the Catawba, scattering the much of the tribe. Supposedly there is a record of these Catawba in historical Choctaw archives -- somewhere . . . There was once a Blue District/County in the Choctaw Nation, but I don't know how it got its name.
