I wish that I could be a member of the Choctaw Tribe, But I guess it is never, never going to happen for me. You see, I'm a 52 year old woman living in Oklahoma City who from childhood heard about my Grandmother who my father said was Choctaw and was on the rolls somewhere. I have finally found her, but I'm not sure if she is on the rolls. I have had so much trouble with The Choctaw Nation in Durant first never sending back two death certificates, one of my father and one for my granmother the Choctaw lady. There was one woman who I thought was my grandmother and found out later she wasn't. I finally found my grandmother listed under her given name of Amanda Jane Campbell. She also used her first married name of Ofolter/Offolter on this 1900 census I found. She married my grandfather later on "Ruey Adolph Johnson" and used for some reason, a s! trange first name of R. Minnie Johnson. I can't find her on the Dawes Rolls, just on something called Dawes Commission Index 1896. It has a Case Number:1418 which I don't know what that is and don't know if she ever had a roll number. Her name is listed as Amanda Jane Campbell Ofolter. Tribe:Choctaw. What does this all mean, Is she on the rolls, or not.? Can anyone help me with this. If you can, please e-mail me at:VictoriaJW1854@aol.com I only have a three day free trial on here and it ends June 1st then I will no longer be on here because I can't afford it at this time. any help would be apreciated. 3. It says they didn't register, you'd have to check with the Choctaw Nation to see what that means. They were great about giving our documents back, but be patient, it takes several months to even get them researching and verifying. It isn't quick at all. Here are the people listed in her household and the card number. You can order the documents and interviews for further clarification or view them at the OK Historical society.
