The Edith Dupre library at University of Southwestern Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) - 16,000 plus students, might be a good place to do some research on this. I understand they have a very good genealogy room. It is possible that you can contact them on line Wanda C -----Original Message----- From: choctaw-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:choctaw-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of Larry Payne Sent: Wednesday, July 18, 2007 7:10 PM To: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com; choctaw@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [CHOCTAW] Indian Villages in La. My father always said his mother (Lucy Lewis Johnson) was Indian. (Choctaw); and her father's name was Charles Lewis of New Orleans. I would love to verify my Choctaw Heritage. Basically, that's all the info I have on my great grandfather on my dad's side. I am not sure if Lucy, and Charles were full blooded Choctaw, or part. So, any info you have to share would be great. I do also know that Lucy migrated to Rosedale, Mississippi. Also, anyone having info may contact me via email. The University of Southwestern Louisiana at Layafette is now the University of Louisiana at Layafette, with 22,000 students.........I know all this because I keep sending them money so my Son can continue his "higher education". "Higher Education", By-the-way, is pretty descriptive in more ways than one!
