If your ancestor died prior to 1906 they will not be listed on the Final Dawes Roll. dusty ----- Original Message ----- From: <P0519@aol.com> To: <choctaw@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, July 27, 2007 4:01 PM Subject: Re: [CHOCTAW] CHOCTAW Digest, Vol 2, Issue 99 > Could someone please give me some advice I found my ggrandmothers brother in > the Choctow Roll on pg 56 roll 11623 Monds Richard Choctow by blood with > wife Mindy and son Farris and daughter Josie Lee but have been unable to find > my ggrandmother who is said to be an indian medicine woman and was on her way > to sign up for the dawes Roll and took sick and died her name was Mary Jane > Monds Tully having married Joun Emerson Tully., Richards father Job Monds and > mother Mildred Ridge but have been unable to find any of his brothers or > sisters on the roll. > Any help would be greatly appreciated > > Thank You > Maxine > > > > ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at > http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to CHOCTAW-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
"but have been unable to find my ggrandmother who is said to be an indian medicine woman and was on her way to sign up for the dawes Roll and took sick and died" Maxine, look at your question, again. You do know that if they were NOT on the Dawes Rolls.........then they are NOT Indian. I know, it's silly, but it's the LAW, so, if she was ON the way to sign up for the Dawes Roll and she took sick and died before she got there, then she just isn't Indian. I know how you feel. My GGrandmother refused to sign........seems her son was "killed by white people" just the year before. So, instead of going to "sign up", she had heard that the Dawes Commission guys were coming around the homes, asking if anybody hadn't signed up yet. Thank God they didn't show up at her house. I still have the old double-barreled 12 ga. that she had by the front door.....................................! She did NOT like white people, until the day she died. Matter-of-fact, neither did my Grandfather. Now that I think about it, neither did my Father................and now that I think about it.....I ain't too crazy about 'em, either.......... dustyc@microgear.net wrote: If your ancestor died prior to 1906 they will not be listed on the Final Dawes Roll. dusty ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Friday, July 27, 2007 4:01 PM Subject: Re: [CHOCTAW] CHOCTAW Digest, Vol 2, Issue 99 > Could someone please give me some advice I found my ggrandmothers brother in > the Choctow Roll on pg 56 roll 11623 Monds Richard Choctow by blood with > wife Mindy and son Farris and daughter Josie Lee but have been unable to find > my ggrandmother who is said to be an indian medicine woman and was on her way > to sign up for the dawes Roll and took sick and died her name was Mary Jane > Monds Tully having married Joun Emerson Tully., Richards father Job Monds and > mother Mildred Ridge but have been unable to find any of his brothers or > sisters on the roll. > Any help would be greatly appreciated > > Thank You > Maxine > > > > ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at > http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to CHOCTAW-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to CHOCTAW-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
