Hello List Members: Jacque Thanks for the informational pages and websites I will check them out. I notice there is no information listed on the Atoka County Link on the list of county's. Does anybody on the list have any information on Choctaws in that area? That is where my ancestry line of the surname Gable family were born and raised, around Lehigh Oklahoma which I believe to be in Atoka county. My dad was born there in Lehigh OK in 1910, Does anyone know if there would be a record of his birth if he was born at home by a mid-wife at the Atoka county Registrar. I do still have his death certificate which list his birth place as Lehigh Oklahoma his name was Tony Gable, he did not have a roll number, but I was told by him that he had some brothers and sisters in Atoka county who had roll numbers I assume because he said they had received the 40 acre and a mule before Oklahoma became a State. And he said they had stop giving the Choctaw Freedmen the 40 acres and a mule when he was born in 1910 because that was the year Oklahoma became a state. On his death certificate his mom's name is listed as Ginny C. Gable Ginny could be short for Virginia. And it also could possibly have been spelled Genny instead of Ginny not really sure. His dad's name was Martin Gable as listed on his death certificate, From what I remember him telling me he had brothers and sisters who received the 40 acres and a mule by the names of Ida Gable, Ollie Gable, Johnny or John Gable, Alman or Albert Gable we had a uncle who use to come see us that we called Uncle Alman, but I now believe his first name to have been Albert. There was one more dad mentioned but I can't remember the name, I'll have to find my little notebook I remember writing the names down but will have to find my little notebook. If anybone has any suggestions on how I may use my dad's death certificate to do some research of the records on file in Atoka County are Lehigh OK or the Beaureau of vital statistics please let me know. Peace! Slimey, Otis Gable
