Thanks, I am not really connected to Smallwood. My husband's grandmother, Lucy Jane Tanner, m. Michol Smallwood. They had a daughter, Sorilla (don't know what happened to her). He died perhaps in 1877. In 1880, she married James Knox Bowman in Dallas Co. I have been unable to find anything about either of them. She died in Carter Co., OK in 1895. The 1890 Census of Chickasaw Nation, Book 2 has: 27080-Bowman, J.K. and wife, age 33, 1 male, 3 females, Healdton, Carter County, Choctaw by marriage to Indian, 6 in family. The children were never registered to the Dawes rolls that we can find. I hoped if I could find her with Smallwood's, maybe I could trace her back farther.
