I've only recently started looking for my husband's family within the Indian Territory. Although I don't have any first hand rememberances, the family has like most families told bits and pieces that have passed down, I'm simply trying to maybe make some sense of it, often just guessing and grasping at straws. Who know sometimes you get lucky, at any rate here's what I have and believe could be the case. Rumor was that one set of grandparents were from two different tribes, since they still live in OK in Leflore Co. I;m thinking the close proximity would make them Cherokee and Choctaw. They refered to him as Cherokee Davis so this is what leads me to this conclusion. Merinda (Renda) COLE b, 1888 m. John DAVIS b.1886.
