You are right! But if it is an Aunt by blood one of her parents would have to have given the Indian blood to her. So what you do is go back to your Dad or Mom which ever is the Indian by blood. (They Might be both Indian) If it is only one parent you must back up and bring that parent up to being enrolled. You will then bump up to that parent. We got my Dad enrolled even tho his was dead or I could not hold my CDIB Card. Now, since the enrollment of the Dawes rolls no new numbers have been issued. So, go to you Aunt and get her info. Apply it to getting a birth and /or death certificate. After you have got your parent enrolled all you have to do is register youself. And, then your kids. If it is both parents repeat the above proceedure again only with the other parent. Remember you do not have to have both parents registered. But, you have to present a continuous line from the Dawes enrollee to the present day decendant. And yes that is what the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma will tell you. So take your Aunts number and apply it to the grandparent that is in your direct line. Never say my Aunt said? That is a BIG NO-NO!!! Even tho you have the same numbers. The Tribe will help you if you ask about your grandparent and give both numbers to them. They will in return answer your question and send you the application forms that you will need.
