Hello to fellow Choctaw searchers: I am looking for any info about my great Grandfather, Richard Slaughter and my great grandmother, Mary Ann Higgenbothan. Both were born in Mississippi (she was Choctaw) and came to Indian Territory around 1870-1880. Their son was David Powhatan Slaughter (b. ~1880) who lived for a time in IT and then moved to north Texas with his wife Annie Slaughter. They lived in several towns but he finally settled in Howe, Texas and was the postmaster there for many years. According to family stories, D.P. Slaughter turned down the offer of land in Oklahoma when it was distributed. I am trying to trace back to any of the above but have not been able to locate them on the Dawes rolls. I saw a CD that is available that has all of the Dawes rolls on it for about $20.00 but haven't been able to find it since. Anybody know where I could find it? Thanks for any help you can provide.
