Halito Michael: I have 3 Creeches who attempted enrollment in the Choctaw Tribe under the Dawes' Commission: Caroline Creech MCR# 6842, application# 1467; Margaret (Evans) Creech MCR# 6675, application# 256 and 261; Nannie Alice Creech MCR# 6514, application# 554. I also have 1 Evans: William H. Evans MCR# 6665, application# 264 and 269. I believe that Margaret's maiden name is Creech and her married name is Evans. Perhaps William H. Evans is her husband. Since they applied under different applications I believe that this means that their is Choctaw blood on both sides of the family. I believe this because I had another case like this. The husband and wife filed under different applications because they claimed blood in their respective families. I did order these microfilms so we will know for certain when I receive them. I did order several though and it will take me some time to view them at the library. Imafo Oklafalaya@aol.com wrote: Michael MCR 3037 is John G. If not ask to speak to someone, tell them that you believe that your grandmother went to an Indian School. Give them the time period and they should be able to tell you where their children went to school. Good luck.

Many of the religious organizations had schools in the Nations. My Mother attended OPC (Oklahoma Presbyterian College) and they had a school for Choctaw young people in association with their College whereby student teachers could do their practice teaching. This school was located in Durant, I.T., later, of course, Oklahoma. There was, as has been previously stated, Wheelock Academy, Jones Academy, Spurlock and about a half-dozen more such institutions. Also there was, for example, Eufaula Boarding School and several others that were near, but not necessarily IN the Choctaw Nation, but were in the other Nations, that accepted ANY child as long as they were Native Americans ( for example the Eufaula Boarding School was in the Creek Nation, but within about 9 miles of the Choctaw Nation and was also, if I'm not mistaken, a Presbyt! erian institution. My first little girlfriend, when I was a kid growind up in Eufaula, was a resident at the Boarding School. ). If you can give me a time frame, ect., I may be able to assist you more in your search.
I think that the school is Wheelock Academy Indian School. It is near Valient, OK and Vida Ok. It is one large school.
