It reads as follows: We traced our ancestory to Claiborn Brogdon married to Mary Jane Ryan in Limestone County Alabama. The had daughter Missouri Jane who was presumably largely Choctow. If Claiborn was son of the line of John Brogdons from England (traders with the Chocotaw Nation), we are seeking information to clarify the link with the Choctaw nation. It appears that the Brogdon neighbors in Alabama were farmers, and tribal members. Thank you, Maureen Rhemann I sent a reply to Maureen Rhemann but don't know if the message is too old but hopefully she will received the info. you have and can add to our questions. Just wondered if some of my people's names may ring a bell to you. I know my Great Grandfather's name was Will Herron, he was said to be half indian, (headstone dates: B. 8 June 1886 D. 6 May 1969) Census records state he was born in Mississippi , and he died in Lamar County, Alabama. His father's name was Jonathan Herron (headstone dates: B. 11 Oct. 1841 D. 13 Sept. 1906) Census records state he was born in Alabama, and his father born in Ohio. I am almost positive Jonathan married Margaret Hood ( B. Oct. 1849 , in St. Clair County, Alabama ... daughter of Osborn Hood). I would love so much to find out more of this family ... All I know to do now is just keep posting queries and hope someone out there knows something to help me out. Thanks so much for your time. Tracy Hayes Reynolds < stlr@frontiernet.net >

Here is the Choctaw connection to Mary Jane Wilson Nathaniel Folsom (anglo man) married two Choctaw sisters-Ai-ah-ne-cha-ohoyo and I-ah-ne-cha. Nathaniel had a daughter named Molly Folsom (-1802). Molly married Samuel Mitchell in 1798. Samuel was an agent to the Choctaws. Molly and Samuel had a daughter named Sophia Mitchell (November 30, 1802-). Whether Molly and Samuel were legally married is unknown. In 1807, Samuel legally is recognized as the father of Sophia. (Acts of Tennessee 1796-1830, p. 14-22, Tennessee State Library and Archives). Sophia Mitchell married 1) Jubal Hancock 2) Jesse Tiner 3) Unknown Moore. She married Hancock in 1817, in White County, Tennessee, Tiner May 23, 1834 in Green County, Missouri. Sophia and Tiner moved to Indian Territory (Oklahoma-Choctaw Nation) and setteld near Boggy Depot. They are listed on the 1855 Choctaw Roll. Sophia Mitchell and Jesse Tiner had two children. 1. Leroy Tiner married Mary Jane (Jennie) Wilson Herron (December 25, 1845-). Mary Jane had first married Gabriel Herron before marring Leroy Tiner. Mary Jane and Leroy had two children: 1. Newton Japer Tiner (1870-) 2. Caroline Tiner (ca 1875-) married William Hall 2. John Tiner Mary Jane married third Michael Lafayette Hagewood in 1875. Altogether Mary Jane had ten children: 3 by Herron, 2 by Tiner and 5 by Hagewood. Ai-ne-cha-ohoyo or I-ah-ne-cha (full blood Choctaw Molly Folsom-half-blood Choctaw Sophia Mitchell-one quarter blood Choctaw Leroy Tiner-one eighth Choctaw Mary Jane has no Choctaw blood through this line. The IW means she was an intermarried white. Her husbands line is the Choctaw.

Do you know of a William Frazier who live in Indian Territory near Ft. Smith in 1895? This man murdered my GG grandfather; Erwin Cowart Justice. I've not been able to find out if he served any prison term or not? I have the court records but not the verdict. I've had the folks at the Ft. Smith Park service helping me, but still not information about the men who killed my GG grandfather. I would love to find out if justice was given to grandfather Justice. Pamela Womack Baratti
Thank you for your reply;however, my George Frazier died after 1900. He was born 1860 in KY and was married ito Lucinda Allen in 1878 in Clay County KY, and divorced/separated by 1880. He remarried, although I do not have the 2nd spouse's name. It has been rumored he might have had a son Walter. And George was called "Black George" Frazier because of his color. He also was a bit of a character...spent some time in the Kentucky reformatory.....once I found that out about him, Granma and Granpa clammed up and took the rest of the information with them to their graves.... You are welcome to email me privately...we may connect after all. Karen "The ground on which we stand is sacred ground. It is the blood of our ancestors." Chief Plenty Coups (Crow)

I have been chasing these elusive ancestors for over 35 years and hope that someone out there has information about these people. Unfortunately, my grandparents took the information about their ancestors with them when they left and crossed over. We have some knowledge of our native American roots, our DNA documents that we are indeed native, but specific documentation remains hidden. I promised my mother that I would find the 'proof' about them one day and have not been able to do so, and can't afford a genealogist to do the research for me, and now that mom is elderly and ill, I wish I could give her the good news that I found them. These people have the same names as my ancestors, but I don't know if they are the same people. Naturally, they are very common names and make it doubly hard to determine. Our family begun in North Carolina, the mountains of Tennessee, many stayed in southeastern Kentucky, and many went west to Oklahoma. The words Chickasaw, Creek, Lumbee, and Cherokee, as well as Mulungeon, and The Trail of Tears were thrown around a lot in family circles. So if anyone is researching any of these people or know who they are or have someone with the same name in their ancestry, please contact me: moonrose2u@yahoo.com. I am most eager to find them!! Hello, I'm very interested in the possibility of a William WILLIAMS, born: abt. 1790 poss. in Maryland, who was married to Elizabeth ?, who lived in Catahoula Parish before 1840 and after that in Franklin Parish, Louisiana but could have been in Mississippi before Catahoula Parish and had several children including a son named Otho Holland WILLIAMS and a daughter named Claranda "Clara" WILLIAMS who married Hudson H. SLAUGHTER. Claranda and Hudson are my maternal great grandparents and they had 2 sons, Henry who died at 16 when thrown by a horse and my grandfather, Louis Hector "Hec(k)" SLAUGHTER, who was actually born in the 1860s and was in his 60s when my mother was born in 1930. My grandfather Louis SLAUGHTER told my mother that he was part Native American Indian and that he remembered seeing a picture of one set of grandparents that appeared to be full blood N.A. but, so far, I haven't uncovered any additional information regarding this nor have I been able to find out the names of William WILLIAMS parents nor the maiden name of his wife, Elizabeth ?. Is there any possibility that there might be a connection to the Choctaw William WILLIAMS out of Mississippi that you speak of. The aformentioned Hudson H. SLAUGHTER is from the SLAUGHTER - McDONALD - CROUCH family out of Richmond County, North Carolina that was in Virginia before that and, so far, I don't have any information of any N.A. bloodlines there so it keeps coming down to the probability of either Elizabeth ? and/or her husband William WILLIAMS being of N.A. ancestry. Looking forward to hearing from anyone that might have any information about this WILLIAMS family. Thanks.
