Author: paynengineering Surnames: Hendrix, Benson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.ethnic.natam.nations.choctaw.choctawnat/2852/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Lorenzo Dow Hendrix came out of Mississippi or Alabama, into Arkansas and then into Canadian Township, Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory. I believe that Katy Benson was his second wife (she was married to James Barnes who was killed by white men in Crowder, Choctaw Nation, I.T. in 1880, her then marrying Lorenzo in 1882). My Grandmother was the daughter of Lorenzo and Katy. Her name was Francis M. Hendrix. Lorenzo was a Confederate veteran and Katy drew a pension thru the State of Oklahoma for his service during the War Of Northern Aggression. I am, obviously, needing as much information as possible about these kinfolks. And, of course, I am seeking my Indian heritage as passed down to me by them. I have a few of their children's Eastern Cherokee Applications and it states that David Weaver was born in GA with no year of birth and died 1889 in AL. They state his mother Linney is a white woman. The father of this David Weaver is unknown according to their statement. They state that Cecile Weatherford born Fisher was born in TN with no year of birth and died in 1858 with no place of death. They also state that Cecile's mother Nancy Fisher was a cherokee sqauw born in TN and died about 16 days after their mother. Wm Weatherford "Red Eagle" is stated to be their grandfather on several documents from them. If you could please help me with this tangled web that would be great. He died in 1878. They lived in LeFlore Co. She is enrolled as an intermarried White (#1270). Try as I might, I couldn't find Cunningham Wade anwhere, until I ran across Alfred Wade, governor of the Choctaw nation from 1857-1858, son of John Wade, one of the signers of the Dancing Rabbit Treaty. Seems John had a son, brother to Alfred, named Cunningham. I'm in Virginia, and have limited access to Choctaw materials. Can anyone help me confirm that these two Cunningham Wades are the same?
