Author: Bonnie_Rapert Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.ethnic.natam.nations.choctaw.choctawnat/2867.1.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Why don't you just go to the Social Security Death Index, put in Elijah's name, the listings will show a year of birth, which will help you narrow your search, it will also show where he was living when he received his last Social Security payment, a date of death, as well as his Social Security number. Once you find this, there is a link next to his name where you can print out a form to order a copy of the application he gave to Social Security in order to get his card in the first place. Its the form everyone has to fill out in order to get a card, it will have his birth place, where he was living at the time he applied for a card, and also the names of his parents, and be in his own handwriting. This would be documentation you need and can use for other investigations as well. Depending on when he served as a U.S. Marshall, that information may also lead you to other facts about him and his life. Let me know, please. I will try to see if I can find out anything on Betha! Lute in the mean time. Bonnie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Having been born 20 miles south of Rosedale, MS. and now living one block from the Vermilion River, you can imagine how I perked up at familiar places but alas these are not my families. There are Indian Mounds about 20 - 25 miles south of Rosedale, Winterville, MS., but I do not have any history on them. Of course the areas you mentioned in LA. Are surrounded by Indian tribes which exists today. Many of the communities of Indians throughout the State of LA. Have established governments and have built casinos in their communities. As for history of the tribes, I am not familiar. The reason I respond is to say: If there is any chance that any of your Indian connections were of the Catholic faith, there is a 135 (?) volume series of books compiled by Father Hebert which document the history of the area where many of your tribes lived. I do not know if there is anything of value in these books, but it would certainly be worth someone checking it out Wanda C -----Original Message----- From: choctaw-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:choctaw-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of gc-gateway@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, July 18, 2007 6:00 PM To: CHOCTAW-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [CHOCTAW] Indian Villages in La.
