I am looking for Any connection to the families of Theoplus TH0MPSON or Cleotidus DEAN that have birth to Casana Victoria Thompson in 1876 in Miss. and married Matthew Sullivan and MOVED TO OKLAHOMA. Some of the TH0MPSONS or DEANS may have come to Oklahoma with them or later. Matt Sullivan and Casana settled in the Hollis Oklahoma area. My search is on Casana (Kate) who said that she was Choctaw Indian and that her husband came by (in Mississippi) and her Dad traded her for a load of wood. She was in Texas in 1893 when her first child was born. We want to prove Casana Indian hertiage and we need help with some of the family that might be out there. Karel Danford

Hello researchers,, If some of your family fought during the Civil War in Indian Territory as soldiers in the US Indian Home Guards, I have posted 3 pages, Dischareges, Pension Applications and Pensions of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Indian Home Guards. These were taken from the Cherokee Adovocate, Jan. 14, 1871. The information was donated to the site, Civil War In Indian Territory by Ms. Nita Justice. Go to http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/1263/uniontroops.html to see the lists. They contain many with their Indian Names, rank, company, regiment. These records can be found in the National Archives. Hope it helps someone. Ethel Taylor Bandony1@cs.com 55500 Bates Rd. This is excerpted from "The Proud History of LeFlore County" by Henry L. From Talihina go Highway 63 east towards Muse, cross Frazier Creek, turn due south one half mile to Geo. Morgans on the old site of Wadesville, go in his pasture at the gate, drive west for seven minutes, and enter pasture of Harold Wright one mile. This is one of the most isolated and most intersting of all the cemeteries that the writer has explored, and the least visited by historians, although it is not hard to reach. It is so grown up with seemingly every kind of bush, briar, tree or weed that it takes one with a lot of courage to begin explorations. ................ The cemetery contains probably 250 graves, and is well fenced but no semblance of caretaking except in certain sections. It is located on a high south bank of Frazier Creek. In the extreme northeast corner are the oldest graves. The writer first saw the grave of Gov. (Chief) Alfred Wade with grave stone epitaph well written: "Died March 13th, 1878, age 67 years," and to his left, "In Memory of Mrs. L. T. Wade, wife of Ex-Governor Wade, born Oct., 1820; Died April, 1876, age 56." A few of the other older stones all in this corner read as follows: Nancy G., Widow of Jas. Does anyone know of a complete listing of this cemetery? I am interested in the Bohannon/Bohanan's that might be buried there. The above excerpt is all that was named. Thanks Jami
I just bought a book, "Wanted: The Heart of a Red-Headed Woodpecker" by Clair Woodward which is a short anthology of stories on eastern OK. One is a story about Choctaw Stick Ball told by Sidney White. The time frame is about 1893 until 19ll; this was when they took their ball playing a lot more seriously than they do today. At the end of his story, he gives a list of people that he remembers that played ball for the Big San Bois and the Little San Bois teams. I thought it might be of interest to someone. Barbara Big San Bois Little San Bois Allen, Martin Christy, Tobias Allen, Robert Folsom, Saul Bascum, Charles Gibson, Mullen Billy, Thomas Isaac, Simeon Burris, Sidney Jones, Johnnie Carney, Folsom King, Charles Carney, Jonas Lucas, Joshua Carney, Levi Morris, Boles Cooper, Jim Morris, Sanderson Franklin, Nicholas Robinson, Frank Folsom, Dan Tobli, Sam Lewis, Dan Tobli, Willis Lewis, Steve Martin, Billy Martin, Jimmie Moore, Austin Perry, Austin Perry, Frank Sexton, Jimmie Wallace, Willie Woolridge, Nicholas

Hi Karel, I am sorry to have to tell you, but it is Roots Web "Rule" that no attachments are allowed to be sent through any of their lists and that is because of band width, and archive space. You are certainly most welcome to send attachments such as the one you sent to anyone privately, but not through the list. Please post who you are looking for with dates, places if you have them.
