The traders often intermarried into the tribes. I suspect that I'll discover that these Woodwards are descendants of the intermarriage of a trader with a female Choctaw. 2. Don't mean to butt in, but perhaps I can help. Card no. 3142 lists was for Nancy Brennan age 45 and Thomas Brennan age 73, living in Hartshorne. They applied to be enrolled under Choctaw by Blood. Apparently they were denied. Ann and James Brennan are listed as "parents". Jessie and Lizzie Wilson are also listed as "parents". This means they were listed as parents on the original application. Nancy Brennan is listed on my copy of the Final Roll with rollno. 1252, as "Intermarried-White" (Choctaw by Intermarriage). Thomas is also listed as Intermarried-White with roll no. 789. Hope this helps. dusty List Admin. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard Wilson" <imafo.hopiah@yahoo.com> To: <choctaw@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, October 06, 2006 10:37 AM Subject: Re: [CHOCTAW] CHOCTAW > Halito, > > 3142 is a census card number with Lizzie Wilson and Jesse Wilson, ages 0. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4gC.2ACE/1346.6 Message Board Post: I have a Samuel Anderson on my tree. I found a listing for him on the Armstrong Rolls that reads... Samuel Anderson Acres Cultivated: 13 Family Size: 10 Males Over 16: 4 Males and Females Under 16: 6 Locality: Chakke creek, north side Total Acres: -16 Remarks: Land good, and good run water. District: Nitachacha Do you know where I could track down more info. off of this. One of the on-line trees branching off of Samuel Anderson (full blood Choctaw) has him married to Sallie Imatubbee (full blood Choctaw). and having a child Lucy Anderson b. Abt. 1830 in Chakke Creek, North Side, Nitachacha District, Choctaw Nation, MS. Lucy then marries Neal Campbell (3/4 blood Choctaw) and they have a child Sallie Campbell who would be my ggg-grandmother, Sallie Berryman. But I can not confirm any of this. Does anyone have any suggestions on where else to look?

    2. Richard Wilson
    3. Halito, I have Byrds and Woodwards in my line. As you probably know the name has been spelled Bird and Byrd. The people, although spelling it differently, could be in the same family. I haven't done much with the Woodwards. However, I did discover that Woodward is a traders' name. The traders often intermarried into the tribes. I suspect that I'll discover that these Woodwards are descendants of the intermarriage of a trader with a female Choctaw. I have 2 Byrds in my family who attempted enrollment in the Choctaw Tribe: Junie J. Byrd MCR# 6580, application# 670, 674; Millie Ann Byrd MCR# 6874, application# 866, 872, 873. With a correspondence with 2 names, I believe there is some probability that there is a connection. I'll get back with you once I have done more research on these names. I'd like to know some of your other surnames. If there is some more correspondence of names then it increases the probability of a connection.
