This may not be the right list for my question but I will ask it anyway and will be grateful for any suggestions. My British grandfather lived in Hong Kong and Macao and married a citizen of France in Hong Kong in 1888. I have been unable to find their marriage record though I have his letter saying he'd been to both the English and French embassies to record it legally in both countries.
