    3. Posted on: General China Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/China/General/10347 Surname: Young ------------------------- My paternal gandfather was David Kam-Young. I don't know if he was first or second generation. But his wife's first name was May. I don't know if this was a relation but my family on both sides have lived in hawai'i between 3-6 generations. So this may be someone related to him. However from what I am old the Young was added on almost as a fluke. It should really just be Kam (meaning Gold in chinese). Hope this helps.

    1. [CHINA] Death of Sarah Elizabeth Bowen
    2. Shelagh Stephenson
    3. Posted on: General China Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/China/General/10340 Surname: BOWEN ------------------------- I have been trying to trace relatives of my father Harold Bowen b 3 May 1892 at Chorlton upon Medlock, Lancashire, England. We know he had a younger brother named Sidney (?Sydney). Although unaware of any other siblings there is a possibility that there was an older brother who died before my father was born. My father's father's name was William Thomas Bowen and his mother's name was Sarah Elizabeth Bowen nee Sutton or Dutton. They travelled to China from Lancashire in late 1890's. Harold travelled to China (Shanghai) to join his parents at the age of 9 (about 1900) returning to England prior to WW1. He joined the army but finished the war in the Royal Flying Corps. His family had something to do with cotton manufacturing which is why they went to China. Sarah apparently died of a vitamin deficiency in China (Shanghai area) early 1900's. Any information on her death, cemetery or shipping lists gratefully received.
