Hello everybody, I'm new to this mailing list and wonder if someone could help me.I'm researching my husband's family. Emma Melton CHETTLE was his g.grandmother. She came first to Australia, married George Berry Johnson, and they continued on to New Zealand. I'm looking for information about her parents and siblings. Her parents were Samuel and Sarah CHETTLE and they had the following children in Mitcham, Surrey: Sarah b.1814, Anne b.1815, Margaret b.1818. Samuel Francis b.1820, d.1826, Emma Melton b.1823, Eliza b.1825,Fanny b.1830, Samuel b.1830, Francis b.1832, d.1834, and Louisa b.1834. I'm trying to find out where and when Samuel and Sarah got married, her maiden name and when and where they were born. I would also to be interested to find out more about Emma's siblings. Any help would be very much appreciated. Heidi Webb

Virus warnings RootsWeb's mailing lists are filtered and attachments are not allowed. A virus that is distributed as an attachment will not reach you through a RootsWeb mailing list. A recent virus, and several imitations of it, may result in your receiving an e-mail (or a greeting card) with a virus attached, that appears to come from RootsWeb or from an address you are familiar with. Some virus will send a message to all the unread messages in the infected person's mailbox folders, with the virus attached. It may include the original message followed by instructions to look at the attachment. Another will use addresses found in the infected person's address book. They send messages using a forged address (for instance, using RootsWeb or the infected person in the return address). The subject line and message may indicate it is in response to a message you sent, making it even more credible. While it may appear to come from RootsWeb, that is only an illusion of the virus -- our address and the subject line is a forgery. What can you do? Protect yourself by never opening an attachment from someone you do not know, or that look suspicious. If an unexpected attachment comes from someone you do know, write to confirm they sent the attachment prior to opening it. If you have an e-mail from RootsWeb, and there is an attachment of any kind, don't open it. If you clicked on an attachment and received a message that the file was corrupted, it likely means your computer has been infected by the virus. Most importantly, use a virus protection program. Know what viruses are out there so you will recognize one when if you get it. There are sites that will help you, including those shown below. http://housecall.antivirus.com/pc_housecall/ http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/ http://www.stanford.edu/group/partners/hoaxes.shtml http://kumite.com/myths/ http://www.mcafee.com/centers/anti-virus/default2.asp http://www.europe.f-secure.com/v-descs/newapt.htm Remember, if you do not open the attachment, you substantially reduce the chances of becoming infected with a virus. Delete it. Then empty the trash bin to make sure it is gone. If you are using an e-mail program that stores attachments elsewhere on your computer, such as Eudora, find it there and delete it too. To unsubscribe, send an e-mail message to: [email protected] (for individual messages) [email protected] (for a digest of multiple messages) In the body include only one word: unsubscribe (Turn OFF your signature file when sending this command) Your List Administrator John Henry Green Toowoomba Australia www.jhgreen.net
Hi there all I am having alot of the list mail returned as the email address which some people on the list are using is full, if this happens 3 times you are automatically removed from the list, and you miss out on that mail,So u you are having some trouble with your mail this could be what is happening, it is very wise to use a seperate email address only for your genealogy research so you will get every email. I can suppy you with your own email address for free for this I find it works very well the email can be checked via any computer on the net or can be set up as pop3 mail it has a larger email storage box than hotmail and works just like it too but you can have aname alot shorter too check it out at www.jhgreen.net free email page also this page has a help page for the list to so keep the address is you are needing help with the list too. Cheers Your List Administrator John H Green www.jhgreen.net
Hi everybody I just received the following information and feel sure that there would be others who were interested. The news concerns the website http://census.pro.gov.uk/ The following is a quote from the page - "This Website is a pilot for the release of the whole of the 1901 Census for England and Wales, which will be made available on the Internet from the first working day of 2002. This pilot consists of the digitised returns for the county of Norfolk from the 1891 Census. The Census reveals who was living at a particular address in each city, town and village on census night (5th April 1891)." Cheers Your List Administrator John H Green www.jhgreen.net
Hello List Members, A note to all MSN subscribers. If you have a HOTMAIL account (and maybe you have one you don't know about) and if your Hotmail mailbox is full, your MSN mail will bounce. Pretty hard to figure out! For Example: Hotmail mailbox fills up all by itself with amazing junk mail that you didn't ask for, wasn't expecting. This will cause problems with your mail. This also can happen with Yahoo, Excite, Alta Vista etc Also if you want a more personal email address with junk mail and a larger storge Check out the Free Email Accounts I offer on my Home Page at www.jhgreen.net you can choose from Past ; Mailaus ;Greenau; Twba ; Tenpin or Steamtrain Mail it's all free these can be setup as pop mail on your outlook express or checked from any computer at anytime, and no extra juck mail. Every so often one of the ISP's has problems and mail will bounce. Sometimes the servers 'time out' or the message can't be delivered for xx number of days or some other useless message pops up like the 'process is busy with another task'. All any of that means is that you don't get your mail and your mail 'bounces'. The mailing lists are set up to automatically 'unsub' a subscriber after 3 bounces. If you stop getting mail from one of the lists, you can post a message to the list, and you can check the archives to see if there are posted messages you have not gotten. If you get the message that you have been 'unsubscribed' and you didn't want to be, just send an email to the 'request' address with the word SUBSCRIBE in the subject line and in the message area and you will be added back to the list. One more thing - DON'T OPEN ATTACHMENTS. Rootsweb doesn't send attachments. There are known Spammers out there who knowingly attach viruses to thier spam. DON'T OPEN ATTACHMENTS NO ONE on Rootsweb lists is sending viruses out on purpose. Don't be so quick to point fingers. If you tried to click on one of these attachments, you are just as guilty as the person you got it from - that's all they did! Keep your virus software current - check every day or so for new virus files and DON'T OPEN ATTACHMENTS!!!!!! Thanks for your patience. This message does not need to be discussed on the lists. Take them to private emails. Cheers Your List Administrator John H Green www.jhgreen.net
