Angie, Washington Co. is right, I have a John R. Chesser, age 3 on the 1860 census for Wash. Co. James Chiser, age 26, farmer, b. KY, can't r/w Mary J., age 27, b. KY Mary M., age 9 Thomas, age 6 John R., age 3 This family is living next door to Dorman Chesser and is believed to be a son of his. James and Martha Chesser are next door to Dorman in 1850, also. Dorman Chesher, age 48, b. KY can't r/w Dorman married Martha (Patsey) Baird (Bird) in Nelson Co., KY in 1831. Dorman is the son of Benjamin Chesser (Cheshire) who was b. between 1774 & 1784 in either VA or MD. We think Maryland. Benjamin married Elizabeth Hardin on Mar. 17, 1800 in Washington Co., KY Benjamin is believed to be the son of John Baptist Cheshire, a Rev. War soldier. Other Cheshire-Hardin marriages we've found, not all identified, all in Washington Co: Bedan Chesser to Charlotte Hardin Jun 1, 1835, Bedan or Benjamin is also a son of Benjamin.
