Angie, you don't say where your Chessers are from. WOuld they be from Kentucky? I know there were many marriages between the Chessers and the hardins in Washington Co., KY in the 1800's. I have a John R. Chesser born about 1857 that I found on the 1860 census. Have you found your folks on the census?
My line of Chesser's I know came from GA (starting with Hosea born abt 1787 in GA) - they moved and settled in TN, ARK, and maybe even Kentucky.
