Beverley, Thanks for your reply. I agree with what you say but when faced with multilple possibilities in later censuses I have only this one clue to compare with ... Pounsworth!. It has already been plausibly suggested that it is a variation of Poynton with Worth which I know well but that does not jibe with the later possible census records in which Mobberley appears to be the most likely birthplace but only if LEIGH has been translated to LEE. I need a baptism record I think. Eric Millward
