    3. Dear Lyn, Thank you for reminding me what a2a means. It has been several years since I checked for Dowdalls on the website. There have been some new additions that are quite interesting. One of the references mentions the Lancashire Records Office so I will write for one of the references that sounded quite interesting. Was it common to send a body back to Ireland for burial in the family plot? I know that in 1558 after the Archbishop of Armagh George Dowdall died his body was sent to Ireland and was buried in Termonfeckin. I wonder what the custom was in 1748.
