Hi again Lilian, Saltersford-cum-Kettleshulme is Prestbury. I have no idea why it is listed as such as both Saltersford and Kettleshulme villages are a good way from the church, but it must the way they did the early records. St Peters Prestbury, was the mother church for a wide area in and around Macclesfield and is an ancient church. Before the building of the chapelries, it would have been the norm to travel there for baptisms, marriages & burials. It didn't however, cover Stockport, so if your family is based there, then I would think it's more likely that they headed towards Manchester rather than Prestbury. They could of course have started off in the Macclesfield/Prestbury area and migrated to Stockport for work. I couldn't find a marriage for Thomas & Elizabeth/Betty either, so they could have been married in a non-conformist church, or further afield than Cheshire. I did find a marriage for a Thomas Higham and Lydia Henshall in Stockport in 1817. This Thomas was a Hatter (not unusal in Stockport). No clues with witnesses as both of them signed all the marriages that day so probably not related. There is also a marriage for a Thomas Higham to Elizabeth Ridings at Manchester Cathedral on 22 September 1817. I had a look at the record on Ancestry and both parties are given as 'of this parish' but that's not unusual. This Thomas was a Cordwainer and again, the witnesses were probably not related. Hope this helps.
