Thank you Guy, but yes I have scoured. Unfortunately very few parish records survive for Prestbury and there are no Hearth or other tax returns for that period, nor Protestation Returns. George WATTS lived in Adlington in the parish of Prestbury. Adlington Hall keeps its own archive but its not open to the general public - and that was a last hope for me for records other than parish chest. Ah well, let's see whether the church itself has something literally within its walls. Request sent. Ruth
