Thank you very much Leslie and Eric for your very prompt replies - I have sent for the certificate relating to Betty Higham (don't quite know how I missed it)as I am sure that is the correct one, however I think that I will write to Warrington regarding Thomas, as his age on the Cheshire Parish Registers definitely is 64 years, I have looked again at my baptism records for the Higham children all the addresses are given as Edgeley and they are solemnised in 'The Parish of Cheadle' so I still don't know which church it would be, so perhaps it is the Methodist Church. I will let you know how I get on. Would you also be able to help with another query please; on the Family Search site I have found Elizabeth/Betty, and it says that the family are in Saltersford cum Kettlehulme, I haven't been able to find a marriage for Thomas and Elizabeth, but it appears that their first child was Henry born in 1821. I have looked 5 years either side of that date but no luck. I do seem to get lost on this family I'm afraid. Once again many thanks Lilian > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > CHESHIRE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message > ------------------------------ . ------------------------------ Message: 4 Date: Tue, 4 Feb 2014 17:26:58 -0000 From: "Lilian Fowler" <lilian.fowler@ntlworld.com> Subject: [CHS] Higham Family of Cheshire To: <CHESHIRE@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <000001cf21ce$4f7d3920$ee77ab60$@fowler@ntlworld.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" I Wonder if SKS can help with my query if so I would be most grateful - My 2 x gt. Grandmother was Betty/Elizabeth Higham married to Thomas Higham - I have looked at the Cheshire Parish Lists and have found that she was buried 28/03/1838 aged 42yrs at Edgeley, Cheadle, but don't know where the church would be (or which one) she is recorded on Free BMD, Stockport, so I wonder which Register Office I would have to contact to obtain a Death Certificate. Her husband Thomas married a few months later to a widow (Mary Harrop) and on the 1841 census they are living Gate Street North, Cheadle, Cheshire, he is also recorded in 1851 with Mary and 2 children at 34 Pool Lane, Brinnington, Stockport. He is recorded on the Cheshire Parish Project buried at Larkhill 01/09/1857, aged 64yrs but I can't find him on Free BMD. I would also like to purchase his death certificate, but again don't know which office I would need to contact. I had given up for some while on the Higham Family, but have now had my appetite whetted once more as I have found through the Cheshire Registers that their daughter also Elizabeth/Betty (my gt. Grandmother)had a twin sister named Ann, both baptised Edgeley, but have not had any luck in finding Ann on the 1841 census with her brothers and sisters, so she may have died. It was registered in Stockport First district, which would be Stockport Register Office. If you do a search on Cheshire BMD (where she's listed as Betty Heigham), you can click on the resulting link and get a form to fill in. www.cheshirebmd.org.uk Larkhill is in Warrington & there is only one death for a Thomas Higham recorded on both FreeBMD and Cheshire BMD in that year, although no age is given. It's in Warrington, so is probably your man. It is now Northgate Road and Lark Hill is at the Brinksway end of Northgate Road. There was a Methodist Church with a burial ground in Edgeley. Almost certainly the Stockport RO is the one you need but if you have the name, death age and year correct it is odd that it is not on the Cheshire BMD.. And again Thomas is not on that site either. Check for spelling variants. Good luck Eric Millward ----- No virus found in this message.
