    3. Hello, Further to my previous query which was somewhat hijacked by a discussion about Lordships I have done some further digging and I think I have come up with the answer that I was looking for although I am missing some vital information that would provide definite proof. It was pointed out to me what I thought looked like HARLINGTON was in fact HASLINGTON but I couldn't find a Mary BROOM that would fit. There was a Mary BROOM born at Church Lawton about the right time to a Hugh but the record that I was looking at was for a burial. What I did find was a Baptism of a Mary JONES who was the daughter of Hugh BROOM and Martha JONES at HASLINGTON. Further to this there is a marriage of a Mary JONES to a John WARBURTON in WITTON in 1759. Mary resided in the neighbouring parish of DAVENHAM while John was a yeoman from WITTON. What I can't find is the death or burial of John WARBURTON or any children born to John WARBURTON and Mary JONES. If I have the right marriage John WARBURTON died on or before 26 April 1764 when his widow Mary WARBURTON married Matthew STUBBS. I can find a record of five children of this marriage Sarah (no record of baptism but born about 1765), Mary (1768), Martha (1770), John (1772) and Richard (1774). Matthew STUBBS died in 1775 and Mary STUBBS married Richard NIELD in 1777. Mary STUBBS and Richard NIELD had the following children Betty (1777), Nancy (1779) and Mary (1782). Richard NIELD died in 1828 and administration of his estate was granted to his daughter Betty GANDEY. The other two people mentioned were John STUBBS of LOSTOCK GRALAM and Richard STUBBS of ALLOSTOCK. This adds weight to the theory that the widow of Matthew STUBBS married Richard NIELD. Now my question is whether this should be enough for me to conclude that the Mary WARBURTON that married my ancestor was Mary JONES the illegitimate daughter of Martha Jones and Hugh BROOM and I was wondering whether anyone else was researching WARBURTON from WITTON or thereabouts. I am researching my STUBBS family and I have a Matthew STUBBS who marries a widow by the name of Mary WARBURTON in 1764 at Witton. Matthew STUBBS dies in 1775. In 1777 a Mary STUBBS marries a Richard NIELD. It is easy to assume that this Mary is the widow of Matthew especially as both Matthew and Richard lived at a place called Lordship. I am keen to confirm this as well as the maiden name of Mary who married Matthew STUBBS. Mary who married Richard NIELD appears to be the daughter of Hugh and Martha BROOM who resided at a place called Harlington which I have been unable to locate. So I am looking for a marriage of a Mary BROOM to a WARBURTON. I can't find one and don't know where to look. I did find a Mary BROWN who I thought looked promising and I found a Thomas WARBURTON who died in 1764 but this Thomas appears to have died before Mary WARBURTON married Matthew. Any ideas or assistance would be appreciated. Regards, Christine
