I'm researching my late husband's family for my sons and trying to learn more about a very loved family member.. His late aunt, birth name Margaret Kelly, was born in Galway. I think in or soon after 1911 -her parents and siblings are on the Irish 1910 census but she isn't. We attended her funeral, around 1977-1979. KNOWN FACTS: Entered a Convent of Mercy near Redcar, took the name of Sister Mary Rosario. Her aunt was in the same convent and at one time was its Reverend Mother, known as Scholastica. Scholastica's birth name would be either Kelly or Keane. Margaret (known to the family as Peggy) or Sister M Rosario, was a primary school head, Samaritan, recipient of a Bene Merenti medal from the then pope (1970s?) Though the convent building is still there, it's now a children's hospice, so I can't ask anyone there.. She was friendly with (related to) a Walsh family in Chorley, Lancashire, which included the footballer Mickey Walsh. Her closest friend in the convent was Sr. Mary Stanislaus. As I'm not a Catholic I don't know where to start and google hasn't helped. Any ideas. please?
