    3. It sounds to me as if these children were in an orphanage run by the Sisters and not a convent per se. In the US children in orphanages seem to be listed only after they reach a certain age. Perhaps these children continued to be enumerated in the same city/town. I wonder if you have looked for a marriage for any of them. Or was this an orphanage where children could be adopted? If so, they could have been living under another surname in the next census. Lots of questions with no answers, I think. Jan > > 1.
