Trish, There's a marriage for a James BRADDOCK to Elizabeth KNOWLES at Portwood (Stockport) 23 Nov 1856. It's on familysearch.org and gives his father's name as Samuel. The image should be available on Findmypast. They are living with James' in-laws in 1861 at Gee Cross Square, Hyde Cheshire and he gives his birthplace as Apethorn, Cheshire (in 1836). There is an Apethorn Lane in the Werneth/Gee Cross/Hyde area. Census Ref: RG9/2558/F32p16 & F33p17 There is a John BRADDOCK (bn c1831) in 1861 married to a Mary nee ASHTON and living with her father: lancashirebmd.org.uk lists their marriage in 1851 in Saddleworth. The marriage certificate should give the Fathers' names This John is born in Marple which is quite close to Werneth but he is a bit too old for yours although that can be explained by his raising his age to that of his wife! Census Ref: RG9/3000/F87p33 These maiden names are listed on cheshirebmd.og.uk against the BRADDOCK surname for 6 and 7 children respectively. Both couples name their second daughters 'Mary' so, if they are following the usual naming convention, that may be John & James' mother's name (although Elizabeth KNOWLES mother is Mary). In addition, they both have children called Samuel, Hannah and Sarah Ann (Although Mary ASHTON's father is also Samuel). There is a death for an Ann BRADDOCK aged 23 in Hyde in 1852, so that may account for James' and John's sibling Hope that gets you a little further, -Martin On 06/03/2014 00:34, Patricia Essex wrote: > Can someone help me find the parents of the following children. > > Ann Braddock 1829, John Braddock 1833 and James Braddock 1836 (according to > the 1851 census they were living with their grandparents John and Margaret > Braddock. > > They were also with them in the 1841 census.
