    3. Help!!! Maybe it's just a question of getting used to it but I'm having problems with searches on the new version of Find My Past. On the previous version, I could go straight to the Baptism Parish Records in the Cheshire Collection and if I entered 9for example) John Clare, b1766+ or- 2 years, place Witton - bingo - I got his baptism on 12 Oct 1766. Now I can't find it at all or much else for that matter!! I don't even seem able to restrict any searches by event type let alone place, it just churns out BMD's seemingly at random and for any dates it likes. Is anyone else having similar problems or is it just me. In hopeful anticipation of your help Tim Moore

    3. Dear Tim Yes, I cannot get any Baptism Parish Records or Marriages or special licences in the Cheshire Collection. I have written to FMP and they have said to send them my details of my ancestor and they will see what they can do. I decided to try it with some names which I already had from their previous website, but no luck. So await this space. Ann Harris

    3. Hello Tim, If you go to "Birth, marriage, death & Parish Records", click on the drop down list "All Collections", Select "Births & Baptisms" and enter the search info on that page (put Cheshire in the box immediately after "Britain") it is displayed. 3. Hi Tim, I've had similar problems. It appears that FMP have decided to take the Cheshire CofE baptisms, marriages and burials and lump them in with general BMD's, so they are no longer featuring in the "Cheshire Collection" at this time. The Catholic and non-conformist stay within the collection........not sure of the reasoning here, I much prefer the old way of searching for Cheshire events. It would seem that FMP are trying to replicate the Ancestry way of searching. You'll need to try the search option for BMD's and parish records and try and filter for your needs, unless of course your ancestor was catholic or non-conformist - although I haven't looked to see if these particular records appear using both search options. regards, Elaine. 3. I had great difficulty, but then I remembered the Cheshire online project. (http://cgi.csc.liv.ac.uk/~cprdb/) Now while you can't see the original documents, they do help if you know what parish to look in. Then you can go back to find my past and make a more thorough search. I have to admit, though, that I can't see how what they've done helps in any way. It's more of a hindrance Julie > From: odessa@dsl.pipex.com > To: tim.moore@konza.plus.com; CHESHIRE@rootsweb.com > Date: Wed, 9 Apr 2014 22:41:33 +0100 > Subject: Re: [CHS] New Version of Find My Past > > Hi Tim, > > I've had similar problems. 3. Not that Ancestry is that brilliant - you can get deaths/marriages when you ask for only births. The thing is you just have to experiment, all in all they are both better than having to travel miles and trawl through record books for hours and leave with nothing !!! or we're they the good days ? :-) :-) Sent from my iPad On 9 Apr 2014, at 22:41, "Elaine Hanson" <odessa@dsl.pipex.com> wrote: > Hi Tim, > > I've had similar problems.
