According to letters written to her, my great aunt (born in 1884) went to college in Stockport. Unfortunately I don't have the envelopes so I don't know her address at the time. In the 1901 census she is still at school in Newcastle upon Tyne; in the 1911 census she is a Physical Instructress in Newcastle. I don't know if the Stockport college was specifically a PE college or a teachers' training college. If she went there when she was eighteen and it was a three-year course she would have been there between about 1902 and 1905 Would anyone have any idea which college this might have been?
