Ron, I am one of the people that loves Family Tree Maker. I guess that makes me in the minority, but it does everything that I need it to do, and accepts data transfers from any genealogy standard that I am aware of. I have used several other programs, but none is as powerful as FTM, and the source feature is so good and easy to use that I would hate to have to change to anything else. In linage genealogy, the source for the linkage is so critical, and it's so easy to do in FTM. Note: if you decide to go that way, you have to keep it "unlinked" from Ancestry, or they will drive you up the wall with suggestions and hints. Just NEVER link your file to Ancestry. You will have to tell them no, almost daily, but it is a wonderful, powerful program if you keep it away from Ancestry. I have found it so good and easy to use. The Windows version was taken of the market but it remains as the best Mac programme. Subsequently it was reintroduced to Windows as Generations Family Tree but then appears to have been abandoned. My programme is beginning to develop glitches but there is no support available to patch them. I am looking for a new programme that will accept all my present data and take me forward. (Or a whizz kid to fix the glitches!!) ANY RECOMMENDATIONS PLEASE!!
