Just noticed this response on their Facebook page.... "you can add those official records for your uncle, which you have already, without having to pay again by adding them as an external reference (clicking "add an external reference" and selecting "copy of an official document"), rather than clicking "search official records" on our site." Which seems to match what I said. I think.... Adrian B
The External Sources section allows you to put in a publication where you have found information. I put in Geoff Compton's book '34 Men', the publisher, year and IBSN number. I am quite happy to put some text in the story section but it seems silly not to have all the dates and details in position. As Lyn says we have all the relevant information to hand, a lot of which we have paid for in the first place. I am pleased that it's not just me. There is a fair amount of publicity being given to the above project to encourage us to add facts and stories to WW1 archives. I have signed on to this site as I have information about my Uncle Bertie who is one of the '34 Men of Moulton'. I found my Uncle easily on their records and gathered my information together to add all his basic facts.........oh no, unless I'm very much mistaken you can only add facts by going through official records and SUBSCRIBING! You can add a story and you can add a few lines as to where there is an publication showing facts about your relative but that is all. I am so disappointed that everything we try to do in this world of genealogy costs us a whopping great fee! I shouldn't be surprised I've been 12 years on the job. I'd be interested if anyone can tell me I am doing something wrong and you can actually input date of birth, cemetery details etc. Kathleen.

List, General information: For those who do not have a Find My Past subscription, they have a special "1 Month for 1 pound". Not quite Cheshire related but just discovered a bonus with some of these records (1896) in that they have a brief physical description of the voter! Height, eye colour, hair colour and complexion! Just thought I'd pass it on. Lyn
Hope you mall have a great day tomorrow. Sorry I won't be there this year. Cheers, Lyn

According to the 1860 White's Directory for Cheshire, Wilmslow parish's "living is a rectory". So, Rector's Farm would have made sense but Vicar's Farm, in the sense of a priest, seems less likely. As you suspect. There is nothing visible in the 1873 Return of Lands for a Mr Vicker(s) in the area - but I note there are other spellings elsewhere in Cheshire, such as Vickars - maybe something like that was the original spelling? Adrian B
Trying to find out the origin of this farm name. In 1910 and 1875 it was on the map as 'Vicar' but today is known as Vicar's Farm. No name is given on the tithe map when it was occupied by John Shatwell (plot just referred to as a homestead). I wonder if it is connected with 'Wicca' the Old English word for a witch. Any ideas, anyone? It belonged to the Earl of Stamford's estate and I don't think it has anything to do with a vicar as such. Thanks for any help with this, Yours, Lyn
