Joseph was born abt 1818 in Hardin County TN, wed Matilda 7/19/1845 in Winston County MS and died sometimes before 1900. I have very little information on him other than what is on the 1860 census for Winston County; his second wife's name was Louisa Kinard in 1871; he had 6 children with Robert being one of those who,I believe, is my GGF. Matilda, his first wife, could have been the daughter of David and Nancy Cherry.I have notes that state Joseph was listed on 1850 census in Hardin County TN on page 906 according to Family Tree Maker Online. I wish I had more but don't. P. 241 of the actual census for Hardin County, Tenn, 1850, 13th Civil District, 18 Dec 1850, line 23, Joseph "W" Cherry, age 20, Grocery Keeper, bp TN listed in household of Thomas S Tenz? or Terry, age 28, Merchant, bp Tn, wife Mary age 30, bp VA, children James C age 3, bp TN daughter Martha age 1, bp TN along with Wiley S. McBride age 25 Clerk at Store bp TN and C. ? Cason? age 22, Merchant, bp TN So, this Joseph would have been born 1830 and is probably not your Joseph, Jerome. Janelle, I was aware of the Cherrys in Winston County per the 1850 Census and ADW is the son of David. Mary had already wed Joseph H. Cherry (7/19/1845) if my data is correct. I am quite sure that Joseph and Mary "Matilda" were still in Tennessee in 1850.
